A fascinating piece of history from The Idea Factory 📖 In 1968, as Bell Labs was on the cusp of formalizing its optical fiber research program (1969), Bill Baker foresaw the massive role telecommunications would play in matching society’s demand for knowledge distribution.
Fast forward to today: we are witnessing the next major inflection point in telecom history. Just as fiber optics revolutionized capacity decades ago, AI is now revolutionizing network intelligence, automation, and efficiency. The tech stack changes, but the vision endures.
